As Repairs continue following the derailment in Mount Carmel, IL on Sunday, June 26th. Service in the route is estimated to return by July 15th.
In the interim, detours have been established for affected Intermodal lanes. However, to allow for the traffic backlog to be managed and prevent terminal congestion, the ingate closures announced on the previous service alert issued on the evening of Sunday, June 26th will remain in place until Friday, July 1.
On July 1, we expect to begin gradually lifting restrictions on a limited basis until capacity is fully restored. These efforts will be announced on future service alerts.
To maximize throughput via the alternate route customers may experience future gating and loading restrictions at origin facilities. In addition, any shipments billed in the following corridors will utilize the alternate route and should expect delays as outlined below as a result:
- Kansas City & St. Louis <> Southeast – 24-30 hours
- Kansas City & St. Louis <> NIT & VIG – 24-36 hours
- Kansas City & St. Louis <> Jacksonville – 24-30 hours
We will provide an update via a future service alert when service is restored to the primary route.
